Wasted votes are votes in excess of those needed to win an FPTP election. In the 2019 election over eight and a half million votes were wasted. Under the new system all of those votes would have counted and been used every time your MP voted. Once again ‘The Living Vote’.
In any electoral system some people do not get the person they voted for, but these votes aren’t wasted, if anything more of them were needed. They were simply unsuccessful votes.
Theres an easy way to check if a vote has been wasted or is unsuccessful, just multiply it by as much as you like. Would it have made a difference to the outcome of the election, if yes it was an unsuccessful vote, if no, it was a wasted vote? Of course, exclude successful votes.
Under F2PTP-IND, no votes are wasted, they are all used again and again and again.
